Prayer for the Swift Return of H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche

Abiding in a state of wisdom and compassion, Bodhisattvas are highly attained beings who have developed the spontaneous wish to always be of benefit to others. For this reason, they pray to be reborn in difficult circumstances, or in an environment where they can absorb the suffering of sentient beings. This is a prayer that His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche repeatedly made in his previous lives, which can be traced back to a direct disciple of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni himself.

Born on October 24, 1965 His Eminence took rebirth to fulfil the spiritual responsibilities of his previous lives and to uphold the tradition of Buddha’s teachings. Having fulfilled the role of his present incarnation, he passed into parinirvana on September 4, 2019.

Highly attained beings will return if sincere requests are made. Compelled by compassion, they will not turn away if they see a need for them to return. To this end, on September 5, 2019 the king of our lineage, His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche composed a Prayer for the Swift Return of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche.

It is now vital for all disciples, monasteries, friends around the world, and upholders of the lineage to recite this prayer and make heartfelt and fervent requests for His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche to swiftly return in an unmistaken incarnation to continue his enlightened activities in this earthly realm. The prayer should be recited strongly and often, and incorporated into your daily practices.

His Eminence has previously expressed that one of his favourite verses within the Lama Chopa is:

“Even if I must remain in the fiery hells of Avici for the sake of one sentient being alone, we seek your blessings to complete the perfection of joyous effort to strive with compassion for Supreme Enlightenment and not be discouraged.”

Where most would fear to tread, His Eminence’s brand of fearless compassion reaches out to sentient beings. So while we may not be in Avici, there is no denying that His presence is still very much needed in this suffering realm, as a source of compassion, hope and enlightenment for all sentient beings, great and small.

Join us in creating the causes for His Eminence to return among us in this realm and once again continue his deeds in a new perfect form that is for the benefit of all.

His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s long life prayers should no longer be recited but replaced with these prayers for His swift return.

H.E. Tsem Rinpoche name mantra should still be recited as usual.

Advice & Practices for Students

Rinpoche has left instructions and advice on what students should do after his parinirvana so that we can swiftly find Rinpoche’s unmistaken incarnation to continue his enlightened activities to benefit beings.

Some of these are pujas to be done by various monasteries and in Kechara.

In addition, on an individual level, Rinpoche has advised that we should do Vajrayogini (if you have the initiation) or Dorje Shugden practice thoroughly – thinking of the Lama as either one or both these deities.

Dedicate your personal practice as follows:

“Dorje Shugden, Tsem Rinpoche wants to come back and do your work and to spread Vajrayogini’s tantra. Please help us to clear obstacles so that we can swiftly find the incarnation. Please help us to find a Geshe of import to bring the young incarnation back and educate him

The above advice was given over 1 year ago by our lama who has perfect control over his birth, parinirvana and rebirth.
