The beginning of a spiritual bond
Literally means “life entrustment” in Tibetan, "sogtae" refers to the
life entrustment initiation of a Dharma protector.
During the initiation, the Lama seals the spiritual bond between the initiate and the Dharma protector. For example, if one receives a Dorje Shugden Sogtae, this protector is bound by oath to guide and protect the initiate until the initiate achieves Bodhicitta. The initiate, in turn, vows to take and rely on Dorje Shugden as his/her Protector until the realisation of Bodhicitta. Once the initiate achieves Bodhicitta, he/she no longer needs the Protector’s guide and assistance, and the initiate then takes on the role of the “protector” for others instead. Whether the achievement of Bodhicitta takes place in this lifetime or future ones, Dorje Shugden will guide and protect the initiate until that is achieved.
Create a connection, create the cause
During the life entrustment ceremony, Dorje Shugden Heart Crystals and Chakras are consecrated and given to initiates to bless them with a smooth and successful spiritual journey. It also serves as a reminder to uphold their commitments to Dorje Shugden.
Those who has not received initiations may carry or wear the Heart Crystal for protection and to create the cause to receive the life entrustment initiations in future.
