DINING WITH A PURPOSE
All of the proceeds of this dinner will be channeled towards the renovations of Kechara House’s new gompa (prayer hall), and the new premises of Kechara Soup Kitchen.
Since its establishment in 2000, Kechara House (KH) has become a sanctuary of spiritual learning and progress for a growing number of practitioners. Our current gompa is always full to bursting point, especially during teachings given by our spiritual guide, His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
Through the kind generosity of sponsors, KH is now expanding its premises. This project, to be helmed by President Datuk May Phng, now needs approximately RM3.5million in funds for its renovation.
Kechara House and her members have brought many benefits to the community, not in the least through Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK). A weekly service which distributes food to the homeless and urban poor, KSK itself has been without a permanent home for the last four years of their ever-expanding operations.
After much fund-raising, the non-governmental organisation acquired their premises off Jalan Imbi in late 2009, and are now seeking funds for the renovation and maintenance of these premises. It is their hope to serve the homeless every single day of the week, helping them to regain dignity in their lives.

WORDS OF PASSION: AN APPEAL FROM PRESIDENT
Datuk May Phng, respected entrepreneur and President of Kechara House, will be overseeing the renovations of the new Kechara House gompa. In her appeal to you, she asks that you take this opportunity to make a difference, through the community causes of Kechara House (KH) and Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK).
KH provides “a place for anyone to rest, meditate, learn about philosophy and take part in holistic activities to stimulate the body, speech and mind”. Simultaneously, KSK feeds over 800 men, women and children each weekend, come rain or shine.
This is a way for us to change people’s lives, by benefiting the underprivileged in our society as well as those seeking solace from the stresses of modern life. Together, we can give people peace of mind and harmony in their hearts.
